Typography Project

Typography Project:

In Ecomm, we learned about fonts and typography. Different fonts go along with different things better than others. For example, you wouldn't want to see the Comic Sans font on a gravestone, you would like to see a more serious font. Fonts also have typefaces. Typefaces are the lines and spaces on letters. Where it curves on a lowercase h is a shoulder. That is a typeface.

What I have Learned about Typefaces:

Each letter has multiple typefaces, even if it is a capital letter or lowercase letter. The letter l has a sterm because of the straight line. It also has a serif which is the little feet on it. An a has a counter for the large connected gap in the middle. The curve that makes that gap os called a bowl. And the drop-off at the top is called a terminal. An o is almost the same except it doesn't have a bowl or a terminal, it has a hairline instead. A hairline is the part where it gets thinner at the top and bottom.

Color Wheel

What was the Project:

In this project, we had to use Adobe Illustrator to make a color wheel. We didn't use Adobe Photoshop since it works well with images and frame animation. We used many shapes, tools, and colors in order to make our color wheel. We used the shape tool to make triangles, squares, and circles. We used the Text tool to add words. Then we found a font that was easy to read. For colors, we started out with red, yellow, and blue, our primary colors. Next we added our secondary colors, orange, green, and purple. After that, we added our tertiary colors, Yellow orange, red orange, red violet, blue violet, blue green, and yellow green.

What I Learned:

I learned how to make dashed lines, get rid of an outline, and how to copy using the keyboard. You have to select your shape, go to the top of the bar in Adobe illustrator, and click on stroke. A bunch of different options pop up, but click on the box that says dashed lines. I also learned how to keep the background color or make it transparent when saving it for web.

How I Did:

For my first attempt in making a color wheel, I feel I did great. I found an easier way to find a primary colors so I feel I should have used that way instead, but otherwise, everything went well.

Next Time:

I will try and work faster and make sure to familiarize myself with some of the tools and options before I use them.
