Typography Project

Typography Project:

In Ecomm, we learned about fonts and typography. Different fonts go along with different things better than others. For example, you wouldn't want to see the Comic Sans font on a gravestone, you would like to see a more serious font. Fonts also have typefaces. Typefaces are the lines and spaces on letters. Where it curves on a lowercase h is a shoulder. That is a typeface.

What I have Learned about Typefaces:

Each letter has multiple typefaces, even if it is a capital letter or lowercase letter. The letter l has a sterm because of the straight line. It also has a serif which is the little feet on it. An a has a counter for the large connected gap in the middle. The curve that makes that gap os called a bowl. And the drop-off at the top is called a terminal. An o is almost the same except it doesn't have a bowl or a terminal, it has a hairline instead. A hairline is the part where it gets thinner at the top and bottom.

Color Wheel

What was the Project:

In this project, we had to use Adobe Illustrator to make a color wheel. We didn't use Adobe Photoshop since it works well with images and frame animation. We used many shapes, tools, and colors in order to make our color wheel. We used the shape tool to make triangles, squares, and circles. We used the Text tool to add words. Then we found a font that was easy to read. For colors, we started out with red, yellow, and blue, our primary colors. Next we added our secondary colors, orange, green, and purple. After that, we added our tertiary colors, Yellow orange, red orange, red violet, blue violet, blue green, and yellow green.

What I Learned:

I learned how to make dashed lines, get rid of an outline, and how to copy using the keyboard. You have to select your shape, go to the top of the bar in Adobe illustrator, and click on stroke. A bunch of different options pop up, but click on the box that says dashed lines. I also learned how to keep the background color or make it transparent when saving it for web.

How I Did:

For my first attempt in making a color wheel, I feel I did great. I found an easier way to find a primary colors so I feel I should have used that way instead, but otherwise, everything went well.

Next Time:

I will try and work faster and make sure to familiarize myself with some of the tools and options before I use them.

Logo Color Schemes

Logo Color Schemes

Analogous

The bp logo uses the analogous colors of yellow, yellow green, and green. The reason i believe they used these colors in their logo is because these colors catch your eye as you are driving which would make you look and consider going here.

The Firefox logo uses the analogous colors of red, red orange, orange, yellow orange, and yellow. They used these colors because they make a fire, the fire represents a fast and reliable internet browser to use.

Complementary

In the Mountain Dew logo, the colors green and red were used. The reason they were used is because red and green stand out really well and are easy for your eye to catch.

The 7up logo has the complementary colors of green and red. They used these colors because they catch your eye and the green makes you think of fresh, so it convinces you to drink it.

Warm

The Shell logo has the warm colors of red and yellow. They used these two colors to catch your eye while you are driving to convince you to go there.

The Tostitos logo had the warm colors of red, orange, and yellow. These colors are used to convince you to buy and eat it usually because when you see warm colors, you are more likely to eat it.

Cool

The Skype logo is made of the cool color sky blue. When you see this color, you want to use Skype because it represents the sky and how it is easy to connect to others far away that you don't normally get to see.

The Samsung logo has the cold color of blue. Blue was used in the logo because it can make you think of the earth and since Samsung is a phone, how it is reliable when it comes to communication around the world.

Monochromatic

The Ford logo uses different shades of blue since it goes form blue to dark blue. This color was used because it adds detail to the logo and makes it nice to look at.

The Volkswagon logo uses the shades of blue. It uses this color because it is pleasing to look at and will be something that can stay in your mind for a while.

Triad Colors

The burger king logo uses the triad colors of red, yellow, and blue. They use these colors because the work together really well and convince you to eat there.
The nascar logo uses the triad colors of red, yellow, and blue. They use these colors because if represents a fire, this represents how fast the cars go when they race and it makes it more entertaining to watch.

Creating a Website

Final Project

Over the last week, we made a website. We used Adobe Dreamweaver to help us with a few videos showing us what to do. We had to make two pages on the project. One was for the homepage and the other was for the projects we did throughout the year. It made me smile when I saw all of the projects I did from when I started out to where I am now.

What I Learned

Along the way, I learned how websites work in general. I got to see the code behind every link and every word, I got to see how complicated it was and how it had to be exact for everything to work too. It was a little bit frustrating when something didn't go right, but it was easy to figure it out too. I learned that the process in making a website also took lots of time so you have to be patient in what you were doing.

How I did

In all honesty, I believe I did great on the assignment. I haven't learned about color yet so I let that one slide. Coding and creating websites is not easy, but I got through the task with a great looking webpage. I am proud that I was able to get it done while making it look as neat as I could. It was a little difficult at first, and I messed up quite a bit with the code, but I was able to fix it all.

Conclusion

At the beginning of the project, I had a lit of doubt I would be able to make a website, let alone finish it. But seeing what nice job I did on it makes me proud. It made me believe in myself more and will stop me from doubting myself. Throughout the project, I got a little upset that this was my last time in video for the year because when I saw all of the things i put on my projects page, It make me realize that even though it was schoolwork, I had lots of fun making it. This made me decide to do video and animation next year.

Challenge 3

We made our third challenge video. It was about a chase scene. We worked in a group and thought of ideas of what it should be about. We struggled to think . of ideas when one of our partners said it should be a scene about us stealing something. We quickly thought of stealing a wallet. 3 things we struggled with was finding the correct shots, knowing how many scenes we needed, and figuring out if it would take us a minute. I learned that it is easier to work with a group because it is easier to get ideas and solve bigger problems.

We decided to film on the top floor, the hallways, the stairs, and the downstairs back hallway. We all agreed on this location because it had everything we needed whether it was a wide environment, stairs, or trash bins.

We each chose our jobs during the film. I was the one being chased, and no disagreements took place as we chose our roles. We faced lots of challenges as we filmed. Sometimes we messed up during shots and that cost us some time. Other times, we didn't take shots correctly or had to take multiple shots resulting in more time being spent. One of the shots we messed up in we didn't retake. If i had to correct it, I would have gone back and did another shot correctly.

When I edited my film in premier, there were lots of things that went wrong. The computer started to put clips in the wrong spots, the fade out wouldn't go at the end of the song anymore, when i saved the video, one of the songs went missing and I had to delete it and redo it, and Sneak On the Lot (a sound effect and song website free of copyright) was down and I couldn't find any music. But I still learned and got better at editing videos. What I got better at was finding songs and sound effects. I plan to work on implementing more sound effects into my video next time I film.

Since I worked with my friends, filming went easy with no arguments at all. It was almost the perfect team. We all thought of great ideas and listened to everyone very well. We helped each other out and had lots of fun together. I wouldn't do anything to change what my group did.

Challenge 2

                                                                    Challenge 2

https://youtu.be/5v6WDU0Z8s8

In Ecomm,we made a point A to point B video. This taught us about camera positioning, shots, and angles. The video was about escaping detention. I was the main actress in the video.

Our video was about running away from a teacher while trying to escape the school. We start off in detention where I realize the teacher isn't watching me. I sneak out of the classroom and roll down the hall. Then I sprint towards the doors only to find a teacher turn the corner. She began to chase me and I run away.I sprint down the hall where a student slides across the floor as an obstacle. I get back up and resume running away from the teacher. I lose the teacher in the cafeteria and run out the front entrance.

Some of the actions we had were running, sliding, and rolling. We did wide shots, close up shots, and medium shots.

Working on the video was tough because there was a lot of mistakes we made. The stand for our camera wasn't working so we had to replace it and hide it in one of our camera shots. We also had problems with people in the hall walking in front of our shots and we had to retake because out was too long or we weren't ready to record.

There were a few things we could've fixed in the video. We needed to keep the student who slid in the shot as I was running up and down the hall. We also needed to fix the shot when the camera was fixed on the teacher running down the hall. We couldn't move the camera moving fast enough.

Otherwise, everything else went really well and we decided to do something silly at the end to celebrate. When I jumped of the edge, I threw my hands up in the air and screamed, the audio for that we took out, but we kept the footage which is still found at the end of the video.

Challenge 1

In Video, we just did our first challenge. The challenge was to make a video with the 6 shot system in it. We did Extreme wide shots, medium shots, close up hand shots, over the shoulder shots, close up shots, and extreme close up shots. It was very fun but challenging.

We had to learn how to use a camera stand and we used our school iPads to record. I had IPad 8. We used our school IDs to check them out like you would with a library book.

Next we had to set up and record. It was hard because some people walked in front of the shots and we had to restart. We also messed up or we had to do t the next day and forgot to wear the same clothes and had to record all over again. Thankfully we had our planning sheet so we didn’t forget what we had to do.

After we got our parts for the video, we edited them on the computer. We added music, text, and learn to cut out parts we didn’t need. That part was difficult to me, but really cool since I got to see how to edit a video. Hopefully next time it will be easier since I know what to do now.
